There was a real party atmosphere at Musical Minis in Chester-le-Street on Friday 14th October. Musical Minis in Durham, a pre-school music group for babies and toddlers, was celebrating its 2000th member.
14 month-old Eva Harris of Durham was the 2000th member. Mum, Katrina had no idea that when she enrolled Eva onto the Autumn term of Musical Minis, that her daughter was the 2,000th child to attend the popular music classes.
Louise Emerson, the owner of the local franchise, had a very special treat in store for Eva; she received a Musical Minis book bag filled with treats, including musical instruments and some edible goodies! Big sister Lilian, aged 2 3/4 years, who also attends the class couldn’t be left out – she too was given some treats and Mum, Katrina received a beautiful bouquet of flowers. The family were very excited by the news and extremely appreciative of what they had received.
After the presentation, the class went on with the 45 minute programme as usual. The session contains music ranging from classical to modern, concentrating on rhythm, song, sound and movement to promote early musical expression.
Musical Minis in the Durham area has been running since 1999. Its members have continued to increase since 2014 when Louise Emerson took over the franchise. “I was very surprised when I was told that I was close to reaching our 2,000th member”, Louise said. “It is incredible that so many children have passed through Musical Minis in Durham. I am really pleased that parents have chosen to give their child’s early development such a boost by attending our classes”.
Whilst Louise promises every child a warm welcome when they come along to Musical Minis, she regrets she will not be giving out such wonderful treats until number 3,000 comes through her doors.
This is one of six Musical Minis venues in the Durham area with seven sessions held weekly. Musical Minis classes are run during the week in Belmont, Durham, Newton Hall, Lanchester, Consett and Chester-le-Street.
