Some of you, especially those who attend Musical Minis South Wales, we thought would like an update on Ffion who has been attending classes for 4 years and is about to leave us to enter full time education.
Ffion was born with some missing genes and some duplicated genes on one of her chromosomes. Her particular gene rearrangement is extremely rare (it doesn't even have a name) and there may only be a handful of people in the world with the same gene pattern. This makes it impossible for the doctors to predict all that will happen to her. Ffion's scrambled genetic code means that her kidneys didn't form properly and she will need a transplant in the next few years. She has already had several operations including one to help her to feed through a tube into her stomach. She has significant developmental delay and learning disabilities, but thoroughly enjoys Musical Minis. Jo Weaving, the South Wales musical Minis franchisee, commented "It's wonderful to see her face light up when she hears the music and plays the instruments."
Kenny and Sally, Ffion's parents said,"Ffion started coming to Musical Minis with her brother when she was just a few months old. Ffion has really loved coming along to Musical Minis. From a very early age it's been clear that she is keen on music, and we're sure that Musical Minis has helped with her development in this area. She is always keen to participate in all of the songs, particularly if this involves banging a drum or trying to catch bubbles! Ffion also learns from watching the other children, which is great in light of her developmental delay. We're very sad to have to leave once Ffion goes into full-time education, and we thank Jo & all of her helpers for their efforts and support in the nearly 4 years that Ffion has been attending the classes!"
Everyone at Musical Minis wishes Ffion and her family all the best for the future. It has been a pleasure to see the progress that Ffion has made over the years. Her happy smiley face will be missed in classes when we start back for the Autumn term.
