THIS is mine. I've very much enjoyed writing about the origins of nursery rhymes. But my mind can't help but wander to those I'd also rather forget. My girls loved the big purple dinosaur...I wasn't so keen! How about you and which songs (*if any) would you like to be see consigned to the trash can? (As Barney would say...)

I despise that dinosaur and the sickly sweet children that surround him. Eurgh!!

Can't believe this is your least favourite. It's our top song! Oliver sings it to me all the time and we have to have the hug and kiss too! Precious moments I'm grabbing while they're on offer. I used to sing my own version when he was a baby - it's amazing what you can get to rhyme with poo and bum!
My least favourite has to be heads, shoulders, knees and toes because I get SO very confused with the pointing and missing words out at the same time. Can't imagine how a child is meant to follow it! It's like rubbing your tummy and patting your head at the same time!

Thank you for your wise words Heidi. Kim, I love heads, shoulders, knees and toes...

Ugh. I hated Wheels on the Bus when mine were small. Seems to sum up all that is horrid about Mum & Toddler groups. Also can't stand the fact that the Mummies on the Bus chatter, chatter, chatter. Grr!

I think any song in moderation is great - it's when you hear it constantly that it can really get on your nerves!
Linda and Heidi, I agree, that song is just to sugary sweet for me.
Kim, I like head, shoulders, knees and toes. You don't have to miss the words out you can just sing them. I know some versions are just too fast - by the time the children have found their shoulders the song is on toes, which is why at Musical Minis our version has been recorded at a slower pace.
Jane, I love wheels on the bus. Mind you at Musical Minis we don't sing about the Mummies chattering - teeth chatter not Mummies!

I read this and realised that I have successfully blanked all the ones that I disliked from my mind.
Hubby hates Wind Your Bobbin Up so, in our house, that soon became Wind Your Daddy Up!
