YOU can snap up some once in a lifetime offers for children and teenagers who love reading in an auction to help people devastated by recent events in Japan.
There also some 'money can't buy' items open for bids for fans of modern popular fiction for grown-ups thanks to the support of some 'big name' authors.
Journalist and blogger Keris Stainton has organised the Authors for Japan project for the Red Cross.
How to get involved
There is an abundance of wonderful books and money can't buy items on auction that mums, dads and children will adore. Find books to read with the children in the Children & YA section. The auction closes on Sunday (March 20) so if you would like to bid, please do...
Linda Jones, who has been helping publicise the auction says:
"Don't worry if you can't afford mega amounts of cash. (Who can?) Every little helps."
Lots include:
Signed copies of the Skate School series by Kate Woodward.
Box of teen fiction worth £200 from Hachette
Also featured:
Catherine Cooper donates a signed copy of Travelling With Children and a critique of a book synopsis/first chapter.
Explaining the tragedy in Japan to children is a very difficult thing to do.
Joanne Mallon has written a thoughtful and very useful blog post about the inevitable questions children have when seeing natural disasters on the TV.
Donate direct to the Red Cross.
